In the last couple weeks I have explored seven different cities, in six countries, speaking five different languages. Some of them include Paris, London, Köln and Budapest. These four cites have been more than amazing with hundreds of things to do throughout the cities. Each place with its own history and stunning views. But, with all of the great things to do and see every city has its flaws. The biggest problem these cities face is the amount of people in one area. We had to cram into hot metro cars and wait in line to take a picture in a telephone both. For this reason, the city that I have enjoyed the most is not a large cities that I was expecting to love, but rather it's the smallest one where I really felt embraced in the area. I didn't feel like I had to be rushed out of a space by others or be looked at like a tourist from locals. Luxembourg City has been my favorite which is ironic because I have lived in the small town of Luxemberg, MN just south of St. Cloud most of my life.
Although Luxembourg City is the capital of the country Luxembourg, it is still only a third of the size of Minneapolis. The geography of the city made for a major military strategy dating back to the Romans; the city was built on a plateau with a valley surrounding it. Due to this, the city has plenty of history and beauty. It is small and really gives a cozy feeling just like back home. As I wandered the streets and got a feel for the city, it felt more and more welcoming. The ratio of public plazas and parks to go along perfectly with the tight streets near the downtown. Given that Luxembourg has the second highest GDP per capita the food was a little expensive, but it was amazing! Luxembourg, I will defiantly be back!
